The Linden Hills neighborhood, named after the linden trees and rolling topography found in the neighborhood, is a charming residential neighborhood surrounded by some of the best natural amenities in the city. Located in southwest Minneapolis in the midst of the popular chain of lakes, the neighborhood is bound by 47th Street to the south, France Avenue to the west, 36th Street and Lake Calhoun Parkway to the north and William Berry Drive and Lake Harriet Parkway to the east.

On the east side of the neighborhood is beautiful 335-acre Lake Harriet, part of the Minneapolis chain of lakes and one of the more popular recreational areas in the city. Residents of Linden Hills have easy access to the pedestrian and bike trails that follow Lake Harriet’s perimeter and lead to swimming beaches, fishing piers, concessions and the famous Lake Harriet Bandshell, an area landmark since 1927. The Lake Harriet-Como Streetcar Trolley line, which travels on the west side of Lake Harriet north to Lake Calhoun, is a popular attraction for both residents and visitors alike. Built at the end of the 19th century to connect downtown Minneapolis with the lakes, this is the last historic rail line operating in the Twin Cities.

Lake Calhoun, located on the north side of the Neighborhood, is the largest lake in Minneapolis and another popular destination for residents of Linden Hills. This 401-acre lake is surrounded by parks, bike paths, walking paths and offers numerous recreational amenities including fishing docks, swimming beaches, sailing, volleyball courts, soccer fields, and a popular fish and chips eatery named "The Tin Fish".

Lind Hills Park, centrally located in the middle of the neighborhood, is well utilized and hosts annual festivals, community meetings and youth programs. Additionally, the park features a large playground and wading pool, baseball, softball and soccer fields, tennis courts and a large skating area and hockey rink during the winter months.

While nearly all residential, there is a main shopping district located at 43rd Street and Upton Avenue. This area, the setting for a couple of Hollywood movies due to its charm, offers a variety of shopping and dining experiences unique to the neighborhood including  Zumbros Cafe, Wild Rumpus Bookstore, Creative Kidstuff, and the famous Linden Hills Co-op There are several classic ma and pa stores located along 44th Street just west that also cater to local residents including a upscale restaurant, coffee shop and bakery, wine store, family owned garden and landscaping center and various other small boutique shops.

Linden Hills is a diverse neighborhood with a good mixture of empty nesters, working professionals and families. Many children in Linden Hills attend Lake Harriet School or the centrally located Carondolet School, a private Roman Catholic school overlooking the main commercial district.

Owner occupied homes make up 66% percent of total households in the Linden Hills neighborhood and the average median household income remained slightly higher at $62,988 per household as compared to an overall household income for Minneapolis of $37,974.
