The Loring Park neighborhood, named after the park the neighborhood in centered on, is a lively and urban neighborhood with numerous cultural, educational, entertainment and religious institutions scattered throughout. Originally called Central Park but later renamed in 1890 to honor Charles Loring, the first superintendent of the Minneapolis park system, this picturesque 33-acre park is the largest green space in the area.
